ask completely random questions to find out more about each other. ask about their childhood, or their favorite things, not just a movie, but how about animal, cereal...etc...i'm telling you the most random things will spawn a whole new conversation and will really get you both to know more about each other.

try asking him about school or what he's doing or just make up some random crap to talk about.or u can ask him some things that u could be wondering about him so that would be very useful.
