You're confused. I guess no one told you that the Microsoft Corporation is the worlds biggest organization that helps the needy. Other than Bill Gates and a few of his pals not many people pray to Microsoft. In fact I think world wide, more people swear about Microsoft, but that's life. Do you consider Good Will and the Salvation Army religious names? Maybe you need to send them some suggestions. God Bless!

Why not? There are secular organizations that help the needy. Why not religeous? If I give to my particular fellowship and I go to a fellowship where most of the belief systems are just like mine....then I know that the money I give will not be spent on a cause that I believe in and not in something that I find to be unhealthy for people.

Most of the hospitals and organizations that help people, poor or otherwise, were founded by Christians, because helping others is a very important way to demonstate the love of Jesus to people in need.
People who do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God will sometimes start a charity, but most of these will be people who have at least been influenced by the cultural aspects of the Christian religion.
