Most nutritional approaches advocate three meals and two snacks per day. Ideally, the size of your meals should be like an inverted pyramid, with breakfast as the biggest, lunch the next biggest, and dinner the smallest. (If you preferred a medium-sized breakfast and a bigger lunch, that would probably be okay, too.)

Yes this has something to do with metablism. You should be able to eat 3 meals a day one in the morning, afternoon then evening. But you dont get hungry until abiout 2 or 3. So to fix your metabolism Dont eat dinner right before bed like at 9 or 10. Have it around 7 so you dont sleep at a totally full stomach then you are hungry in the morning for breakfast. Then at about 12 or 1 you can eat a lunch. The lunch can be kind of light.

Hey, never heard of three square meals?? Its ususally recommended that you have wholesome breakfast, lunch and dinner. DO NOT snack when hungry. You can stick to the above format only if you time your food-Like breakfast at 8.30, Lunch at1.00 and dinner at 8 or 9. You may however have a regular snack time in the evening- tea n biscuits or whatever. Its healthy, do try it.
But if you eat in little quantities and feel hungry often( u eat small portions), hav healthy food 4 or 5 times a day.
The bottomline is stick to timings and eat healthy. Best wishes!

Skipping breakfast is known to make people gain weight. Because your body is still in the fasting mode it's been in for the past 8+ hours you've been sleeping. So your metabolism is sllloooww. So in the morning, even if all you can eat is a protein bar or something, eat it.
So definately try to eat breakfast all the time.
If you are fine with your weight now and are having no problems, you can eat 3 times a day. BUT, to keep your metabolism up and help prevent weight gain, eating 5-6 times a day (in small portions) is better.

just remember that your body needs nutrients...even if you are not hungry. Otherwise, you could get really sick in the future.
If you really can't eat two or three real meals a day, try healthy snacking four/five times a day. Things like fruit cups, crackers, veggies, etc.

if you really don't need the food, don't eat it. Me, I go nuts if I don't eat breakfast, and about 5 more small meals a day. you may call them snacks, But my sugar levels can not bear being let to themselves for much longer thna 2-3 hours, and if I wait, then I eat way too much.
