Gosh, I'm sorry you are stuck with such an expensive dress! That wasn' very nice of the bride by the way, she should have at least offered to pay for some, if not all of it. But anyway, if I were you I would take it to a dry cleaner or alterations shop and ask them to dye it black. Then you could have it cut down to a sexy length. A girl can never have too many "little black dresses." If all else fails, and the dress is truely unwearable, how about making a donation of it to The CInderella Project:
http://www.thecinderellaprojectofnh.org/
They take donations of dresses just like yours to give to girls who can't afford a prom dress. True, you won't get any money for it, but it's an awesome cause and you will have counter-acted some of the negativity created by the situation you were put in.

Yes, I was a bridesmaid for an old high school buddy. Her dress was gorgeous but for the bridesmaids, we got stuck with baby blue waterweave taffetta dresses. So 80's with big puffy sleeves and a big bow at the back (Like something Sarah Fergerson would of worn back in the years she married Prince Andrew) The skirt poofed out and it was ruched at the front. Her Aunt made it and didnt do a very good job of it. They hung funny at the front and we had to do some minor adjusting 10 minutes before the wedding we were sewing on hooks and eyes. Then she presented us with ugly little pillbox hats, like a skull cap with blue netting that covered our faces. Also home made by the aunt and they doubled as our thank you gifts for being bridesmaids!!!! I felt awful. Thank god I havent got any photos. She also made us wear hot rollers so my hair was curly and I felt like someone out of a 1940's wartime movie!!! I often wonder what I did to her to deserve that!!!!

It might sell on ebay- Wait a few months until early spring- aka right before prom. That is the best time to sell a dress on there.
You are still probably going to take a big hit on the cost of it though. You could check out consignment shops. I also think you should get your bride to pony up some of the cost of the dress because that is pretty rude....

You can try ebay, I did and I got pickers on a lot of my old bridesmaid dressers but of course I didn't get that much for them. One only sold for 25.00.
There are also shops in your area (most likely) look on the internet or in the phone book for used bridal shops that buy and sell your garments for a percentage of the sale. I did that to on old dresses that was given to me and it worked out better than ebay. I just wish I would of checked into that sooner.
Oh yeah, there is also charity.
Or if you sew you can make something else out of that dress, something you will actually wear.

Wow, that stinks...I wish I could see how ugly it is, am betting it is, any "friend " rued enough to leave you holding the dress probably dind't pick out a great one for you....
Other than ebay or a second hand shop, (you ar right you will get nothing) can you cut it off and get some hot pink shoes?...If your legs are okay I would just have the sucker cut off and get a pair of lacey/strappy shoes that make it all work....oh yeah, p.s....wouldn't agree to be in her next wedding...she really should have offered to pay for the dresses, just not right...good luck.

it may sell and if you like it keep it for something formal because those things always come up when you are not prepared especially if it is a nice pink and classic style
you could donate it to project prom dress rosewoodhigh.com(maybe)

that was very rude on the brides part it should be her responsibility to help you as if it wasn't for her you would have never owned the darn thing any way, so I would ask her to help at least to sell it
