In my lifetime, I've met many. About half of my close friends are witches/pagans. Sometimes I notice the wording they use in conversations, sometimes a piece of jewelry, but most times I hear from other people. Since everyone who knows me well also knows that I am a neo-pagan, whenever they hear of someone else who practices they usually ask if I know the person practices.

I find that if you ask simple, respectful questions, most witches/pagans will answer honestly about their beliefs and practices (of course no oathbound info will be given).

People have many different talents and skills. Some are adept in forms of divination like tarot, scrying, and clairvoyance, others will be skilled in herb, stone, or candle magic. It depends on the individual and how much serious practice they have. Real life witches are nothing like the fiction in television/movies.

I have met many witches, I am one. You would not know a person is a witch unless she OR HE told you. We don't have magic powers. That is a Hollywood fantasy. At least Hollywood. for the most part, is portraying witches as nice people, not devil worshipers as so many claim we are.

Met a witch, I married her. I knew she was a witch because she told me she was one.

For the record, there are male witches too.

By magic power do you mean like the witches on TV? Those of us who are witches don't use TV witch powers, that's for the rubes to believe.

Do you know how much energy it would take to transform someone into a toad? Honey, there ain't been anyone worth that.

I'm a witch and most of the witches I know I met through a pagan organization, like CUUPS. Of the witches I know, most do Wiccan-based or Wiccan-derived magic, one does (or used to do) ceremonial/ritual magic, and a few do folk magic. I also know a Thelemite, but I don't know whether he would consider himself a witch.

what do you propose by ability of "genuine"? while you are attempting to ask if everybody has met a hollywood style witch that publicizes some incantation and makes creatures look (like on BTVS) then no. there is not any such element. Now while you're talking approximately somebody that practices witchcraft as a style of connecting and chatting with their Gods. Then sure, i'm one, My mom is one, and a super style of acquaintances the two in existence and on the information superhighway are additionally. we aren't very distinguishable from people different than that consistent with danger we dont tension our ideals down your throat like another people and we tend to be open-minded approximately issues. maximum dont placed on pointy hats, maximum dont placed on All black all the time, and we dont forged spells on people to break them or cause them to "unattractive to different women individuals" lol. i hit upon that one particularly humerous. He in basic terms needed a reason to brag. extra: Oh and btw sure there are adult males that shop on with the Wiccan course besides.

Yes, I am a Witch, and I've met hundreds of other Witches. It's not like Charmed.

Yes. My wife's grandmother is an honorary 3rd degree Priestess of Corellian Wicca, i.e. a "witch." She is one of the most down to earth, honest, happy people I have ever met, and I love her dearly.
