im living with my husband and my 2 children and im a couple hundred miles away from my family. i took a look at my credit report and it shows many many delinquent accounts under my name but used under my fathers. i owe like $500.00 to these people that i dont even have an account with such as phone and cable companies. what do i do? i dont wanna hurt my dad by telling him to pay, but i need this off my credit to get me a new house. any suggestions?

You can dispute these accounts. Provide as much information to the credit agencies as possible - such as " I don't live in that city/state and have been a resident of ______ since 1999, etc." Or that you were under the age of 18 when that account was opened in your name.

You need to challenge the charges and put a fraud alert on your 3 credit bureau accounts so no one else can use your information to obtain credit. What your father did was fraud and how you choose to deal with that is your choice, but basically I wouldn't be shy about screaming at him because ruining your credit will take a long time to build back up. Obviously he was turned down for his own credit because it sucked and just because you are family doesn't give him a right to ruin your credit.
