i got so far as the axle nut but now the rotor wont budge

i got as far as removing the axle nut in front of the rotor. it looks like it should just slide out but it wont budge

Did you remove the brake pads? you have to remove them, and the nut holding the rotor

then it should slide off

You don't remove the 30mm axle nut.If you did it will need to be re-torqued back on and they have a high torque spec over 100 ft lbs. The rotor slips off when you remove the brake caliper. If not its just a little rust or corrosion holding it on. Tap on it lightly it should break loose.

Rotors never come off easy for me. Make sure nothing is holding it on (brake pads, flush head screws...). Use a 2 Lb sledge hammer and beat on the area where it mounts on the spindle. Dont hit it on the face of the rotor, hit it perpendicular to the rotor face (on the spindle area). Rotate the rotor as you hit it. Lots of beating with a big hammer may be required. Last resort is using a cut off wheel on a grinder to cut slots in the rotor to drive chisels in to expand it off from around the spindle...

METRIC TOOLS REQUIRED --REMOVE CALIPER --THEN THE CALIPER BRIDGE --AXEL NUT DOES NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED --SEE THE HOLES IN THE ROTOR THAT HAVE SCREWS --PHILLIPS- U WILL NEED HEAT --TORCH --TO REMOVE THEM ALSO --8MM --BOLT TO ASSIST IN THE ROTOR REMOVAL FROM THE HUB --CLEAN ALL SURFACES AND REASSEMBLE
