I have a friend who lives close to me with a friend of his from his home state New York, and I only have his cell phone number. He lives about 10 minutes from me, but I'm unsure if he has a landline phone.

Although I am aware that he has a roommate, I have called him to confirm, but he lives with his parents. I'm not sure what their names are, but they live right across town. I was invited over, and since his phone is partially broken, I was trying to see if there was a land line available. In no way, shape, or form am I trying to sneak onto property or anything.

AT&T has a web site: www.anywho.com and Verizon has a similar tool at: www.verizon.com. Both will ask for the person's name, city and state. If you know the address, it narrows the search. Both sites also offer 'Reverse Look-up' for when you have a number, but you don't know who it's for. I use 'anywho' all the time. Neither site will give cell numbers though, only land lines.

Call him on his cell and ask, don't go sneaking to get his house number. Maybe he didn't want you to have it for a reason. He probably lives with someone and doesn't want to run up the home phone bill.

You contact the police and report that you are receiving harassing phone calls and give them what info you have. The police will take it from there.

why not just call his cell number and ask him.
you might also try looking in an online phonebook or your paper copy of your local phonebook.
