I want to tone up my arms/shoulders. Considering I am 42 and muscle gain isnt going to be easy should I use a higher weight and less repetitions or a lower weight and lots of repetitions? I would like to build a little but not much .. What weight would you recommend even for say - bicep curls?

Thanks to anyone that knows ..

Samantha

i'm also 42 and if you want to tone you find a weight that you can work about 6 times and have trouble lifting 4 to 6 more times, three to four sets two times a week.
having fun is the key to a good workout!

To get more "volume" you have first to eat more (and better: white meat: chicken & co. and rice or potato).
Then you DON'T have to use higher weight because you'll "burn" your muscles (they will be able to carry them but they won't get bigger).
You'll have to use medium weights with more repetition.
I really advise you to do some "super 7" (7 exerices at A row for ONE muscle, light weights, 15 repetition for each exercice)
