as christians are job is to spread the gospel nothing more nothing less. if you've seen the movie matrix the character morpheus gave neo a choice. he promised him nothing. in the same way we also offer a choice. depending on what you choose you'll learn the truth. just like neo did in the movie.

Well, Christians are trying to change laws to give themselves privelages over other religions (my state used to outlaw buying things on Sunday - the reason written in the law was "Sunday is the sabbath"). Several Christians are up in arms because a US Congressman wants to be sworn in on the Qur'an instead of the Bible (what's this about "we offer a choice?"). Why would anyone think that?

You're answered your own question.

Christians (capitalized here only as the beginning of a sentence) believe that witnessing is a benign act, when it fact it's only benign when done with another person who calls themselves christian. When done to anyone and everyone else, it is prosletyzing, and it's absolutely ABHORENT.

By "speading the gospel" you are forcing your opinion and your beliefs on people who want no part of it.

Your "job" is the same as that of a telemarketer selling newpaper and magazine subscriptions. You call whether your call is wanted or not, and try to sell someone on something that they are perfectly capable of choosing on their own, if they so desire. And if they don't so desire, you keep on calling. How much more rude and/or insane can any practice be?

Oh, and just because you're voluntarily turned away from the process of critical thought and the concept of personal responsibility (if you accept the correct myth, you can do anything you want and all will be forgiven at your death, no personal responsibility) doesn't make your tales true.

In other words, non-chrisitans feel christians are trying to change everyone because that's precisely what you insist on trying to do. Please take off your blinders and learn to think for yourself. You'll be better of for doing so.

Spreading for what? To waste your breath? Hear yourself talk? Hello, spreading it is wanting others to believe what you believe, in other words wanting to change people!
