Yes they will. You will have to contact them to ask about the details but I know they do.

Ok, first of all Sweet Brunette doesn't know what she's talking about. We have maybe 4 cutters in the middle east. Odds of even going to Iraq are slim to none. We are HOMELAND SECURITY! We protect the U.S. on U.S. soil!
All branches of the military help with paying for college. It's called the G.I. Bill. I'm sure there is plenty of information about it online. Google it.
Join whatever branch you want. The Coast Guard offers many different specialities. Right now the hot enlisted rating is OS (operations specialist), big bonuses. It's providing advancement faster than any other rating. We have ratings in health services, food services, IT's, Marine Safety Tech's...we've got everything and anything.

Yes, but if you think that will help avoid the war think again. The Coast Guard has people and cutters on duty in the Persian Gulf. I don't think anyone should avoid combat. But if you are trying to beat the odds, the USN, followed by the USAF is the best way to avoid that and come out with a useful skill. The military is an occupation my family has not taken lightly on both sides since before the USA existed. Both sides my family had people who drew Revolutionary War pensions for service with Francis Marion and Charles Sumter. As well as John Sevire. Nobody seems to honor service very long. But yes, it is noble. Just don't expect undying gratitude.

any branch will help you pay for college. You get money in the form of the G.I. bill. Look it up.
But remember, the military is a job, and like a normal job, you need to do the college work aroudn that schedule. Some training you get for your job gives you credits towards a degree too. It's great. It's easy to get a degree if you want it.

Yes, you have the option to invest in the MGIB, tuition assistance is available, college fund, pace courses, etc. There are a lot of options for those us in the armed forces as far as college goes, but your job will have to come first.

If college is the only reason you want to join, go find another way. The military is not a duty one should take lightly. It is a commitment to protect this country and the freedoms we enjoy. It is a noble duty, but again, not one to take lightly!

Becoming a Coast Guard will help you get into the Iraqi war due to severe shortage of enrollment. No one wants to be kill for any stupid war. As time goes on, the president is going to start a draft just like the Vietnam war.
