I have a white cat with blue eyes, he cross eyed, with poor vision, about 5 mo ago he started with drainage from his eyes no other symptoms, then the eyes got infected and I got Antibiotics from the Vet. it cleared up but is back still no other symptoms, I have come to the conclusion he is allergic to something, we live in the country and my cat stays outside all day and sleeps in at night, I have several other cats and they are fine. Now my question, I have some antibiotic eye drops (Polytrim OP ) from my 20 mo old son. I would like to stop this infection from getting worse do you think it would be safe to use these drops in my cats eyes? Or do you think I should just wait and call the Vet to be sure. Are cats sensitive to cedar or pine shavens? This is what the cat sleeps on.

Well I would phone your VET and ask what you should do. I would think that the cedar and pine are probably having a affect on the cat. Maybe get rid of the shavings and see what happens.

Would you put cat eye drops in your son's eyes? I hope not. Call the Vet and get the proper drops for the type of infection it has. Antibiotics are administered for a specific infection type.
Plus human drops could potentially blind your cat forever. Please call your vet tomorrow, based on the fact he has given drops to the cat before may mean he could just call in a prescription for the cat.
--this is not really aimed at you...
People animals give us such great joy but we try to ave a few bucks when they get sick or put off going to the vet until the animals get very ill. I realize we do not have health insurance for our pets but if you love them care for them...please.

Call the vet and ask him just to make sure that it will be alright. I am GUESSING that it should be OK becuase vets sometimes give infant (human) oral antibiotics to cats.. well, my vet prescribed amoxycillin oral antibiotics for infants one time when my cat had an abcess. What I do know is that antibiotics meant specifically for animals are not to be given to humans (especially the ear antibiotic).
Also, there are different types of antibiotics for targetting different forms of bacteria. So, even if your human eye drop antibiotic is safe for cats, we couldn't know if it is the RIGHT type of antibiotic.
Call your vet and ask. shouldn't hurt.

It could be a continuation of the original infection that did not clear up entirely or yes allergies is a possibility. NO do not use those drops it could cause more damage see the vet.

I think not. A cat's chemistry is different from a human's. Take your kitty back to the vet; perhaps they have allergy tests for animals. Another thing: chocolate is lethal to cats and dogs.

i would call the vet because i wouldnt want to put something like that in their eyes because then you might end up going to the vet any way

NO!!!
The medicine that a vet will get for you is only about $4.00, our medicine is different, because a cats eyes are different.
