Without a doubt Mohammed Ali.Did'nt he fight that Rumble in the Jungle with Foreman and KO him
However the best boxer pound for pound was reckoned to be Sugar Ray Robinson, He held 3 different weight divisions(world) at the same time.He even fought for the world heavyweight title

Of the three, Ali was the greatest. Foreman is an interesting fighter in the history of the sport, but he got upset by Ali in Zaire and retired shortly thereafter. His comeback only proved how pathetic the heavyweight division had become.

Sugar Ray Leonard was a terrific fighter, but he often got decisions he didn't deserve simply because he was so popular. His victory over Wilfredo Benitez when he won the title was stopped late in the fight but Benitez was not out on his feet. His first fight against Hearns was stopped in the 14th round, Hearns could have continued and had he survived the 15th, Hearns would have won a decision. Leonard's victory over Hagler was a travesty, he ran the entire fight throwing a few jabs. He fought Hearns again and clearly lost only to have the judges call it a draw.

Foreman was to slow & awkwardly clumbsy plus poor on stamina. Leonard was HOT as he proved with Duran 2!!! Ali, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING HIS SIZE/WEIGHT(215#!) was CONSIDERABLY FASTER THAN LEONARD!!! Even the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson, fastest of the middle weight's admitted that Clay's(Ali) speed left him dumbfounded! Clay(Ali) did not retain the LONGEVITY that Robinson possessed for sure & due to advanced aging Clay(Ali) had a ring record dismal in comparrison to Robinson's. As regard's Leonard's/Foreman's capabilities, Leonard would be in the ball park against Clay(Ali) size taken into consideration. George "slow bear" Foreman, even when facing an over the hill Ali, was a pathetic sight by ANY one's standards!

My man Im not trying to dis on you at all. But I really dont think this is a question that can honestly be answered. Because it certainly is not one of the above names mentioned. You have to look at the whole fighting era. You gotta go way back further back than the great Jack Dempsey. Thats just the farthest I can go back by memory. Joe Louis excellent fighter. Tune into ESPN Classics you see some of the best boxing ever. These fighters metioned danced. If I wanted dancing Id watch dancing with the stars. Joe Louis was a killer. He didnt dance he hit and when he hit you felt it. Same thing with Rocky Marciano how can you leave him out. Only fighter to ever retire undeafted. Sonny Liston man did he have a killer jab. The list is endless of great heavy weights and other divisions. Julio Ceasar Chavez. Only reason he didnt end his career undefeated is because he fought way past his prime. Same with Holyfield. Though the Holyfield-Tyson fight I would pay to see at any age. But do some more boxing research you will find that the fight game changes over the years just like every other sport you can never say Whos the Greatest. Just who was great. Have a great day my man. TTFN Peace out........................

None of the above! The greatest was the Brown Bomber, Joe Louis! They once put all the stats of he and Ali in their prime in a computer, and it had Louis knocking Ali out in the 12th round!

I believe Mike Tyson to be the greatest fighter of all time. I also think Sonny Liston should be up there, as he would be known as "the greatest" had he not thrown the ali fight.
