So there's this girl in my class. She is not something you would see on Covergirl but I hate models. My friends disagree, but I think she's beautiful. I told her that she looked nice and she said that I didn't have to lie to her. But she really does. She says she wants to lose wieght, but she's not fat. Anyway I'd like to ask her out but I'm afraid that if I do she'll think I'm pity dating her. Any suggestions on how to get through to her? Or should I just drop it?

If you truly thing that she is beautiful, then keep telling her so. Because she has low self esteem, she doesn't really believe you. But tell her often enough, and she is bound to come around. If you really want to pursue a relationship with her, then don't give up so easily. When the day comes and she smiles and really does believe you, I would assume it would be perfectly save to ask her out then, because you have stuck with her for some time already. Be persistent, I'm sure she'll come around.

Oh! Don't forget to make normal conversation with her as well, become her friend. Show her that you really do want to get to know her, that you like her.

She's probably looking for some attention. Ask her why exactly she feels she is so ugly. She will most likely feel dumb answering the question. If her self esteem was so low she wouldn't go around fishing for compliments. I hate it when girls do that. All girls probably just need a boost of confidence. Tell her to join a sport or club for a sense of belonging. Don't consistently tell her she's not fat or not ugly when she says she is. Give her firm advice once that she shouldn't feel low about herself. If she continues to down herself, she's probably more secure with herself than insecure.

you're very sweet.

tell her there are things you like about her, which is why you're talking to her, and spend more time with her. Get her to feel more comfortable with you. be sincere and be yourself.

one step at a time THEN ask her out.

...If you want to be bold try asking her out in front of her friends. she'll be impressed.

good luck!

Keep at it. Just talk to her about school work and movies and stuff like that. Try to ask her out, but if it doesn't work out, just keep being her friend. She sounds like she needs one, and you probably would be a great one. Good luck!

I would keep telling her over and over how beautiful she is. She probably wont believe you at first, but if you are serious, I would keep telling her. Become good friends to build a trust. Good luck.
