It's your abdominal artery. It's totally normal & nothing to worry about.

As scary as it may sound I have to agree with Dixie B. But having said that, an aneurysm will get larger and the arterial wall will get weaker as time goes on and would have produced more obvious signs by now rather than just pulsating in the same way for four years. I cant imagine why you have not mentioned it to your doctor before now....., or have you.
If and when you see your doctor be assertive and strongly request to have the appropriate examination/tests. Do not be fobbed off with "It's your nerves".
Take a relative or friend with you as moral support.
Don't leave it any longer, make an appointment to see your doctor and keep it.
Good luck.

Your abdominal aorta is there. That is the largest blood vessel in the body. If you are very thin this is probably what you feel. Or you could have an aneurysm in the blood vessel. Does it hurt or just pulsate? It could be nothing or it could be serious. I would go see your doctor and have a CT scan of the abdomen done just to make sure that it isn't an aneurysm.

Without knowing anything else about you in terms of your medical history, age, etc., it's really difficult to even hazard a guess. However, the description you give concerns me because it could possibly be an aneurysm on your abdominal aorta. Without knowing more about you, that's the only thing that comes to mind - added risk factors would be if you are older and if you have hypertension (high blood pressure). Why don't you go get this checked by a doc to be on the safe side? If I had the symptom you describe, I would.

Well from my own experience of anxiety/panic disorder i`d say yes, I used to feel the pulse in my abdomen also, you tend to become hyperaware of such things as blood pressure, pulse rate, and any number of pysiological sensations, its hard work dealing with it all but it`s important to try to cultivate a healthy indifferance, by this I mean try not to focalize on it as it exacerbates it, if you hav`nt seen a GP yet do go as i`m sure he will put your mind at rest (reassurance can be everything with this disorder but you have to be prepared to be reassured too!) Also Beta blockers can be very helpful as they tend to calm down the psyiological effects of anxiety. A book worth reading is "Self help for your nerves" by Claire weekes (or Weeks) she covers this pretty much. A final word. I did have this problem for several yrs also, but it`s now been several yrs since I had any bad episodes. Good Luck.

I am only here now, if I fill up the now with projections into the past or future or just as bad see the now through the conditioning I am lost in the now in the mind, I must pay attention to my body and surroundings to fully be where I am. To be fully awake in the present I will need more energy in the now, this is done through loving.

I think it is completely normal. I have it as well, especially noticable when lying on my back. I wouldn't worry about it. I honestly don't know the medical reason behind it , but you may just be more sensitive to feeling it because of your anxiety. Hope this helps a little.

Maybe not cool. You need to have a doctor check you out. One of the symptoms of an aneurysm is feeling a pulsating heartbeat in the abdomen. An aneurysm is a weakening of the major blood vessels connecting to the heart. If it ruptures, you bleed out and die. So please get it checked out and do not rub it or mess around with it until after you have checked it out. This is serious.

It is theaorta - link supplied here: http://biology.about.com/library/organs/heart/blaorta.htm and the way the doctor explained it to me, because it's the biggest artery in your body and passed through the brain/heart/abdo, any stress/fright/worry can cause your heart to beat faster which in turn, makes you aware of the aorta pumping away! But it's nothing to be worried about. Hope this helps?

I'm 19, and I've had the same thing since I was about 14. It used to terrify me, but I've decided that it is just because I am so skinny.

there is an artery that connects from your heart to feed you abdominal organs such as the kidneys (vena cava) it is probably that which is pulsating but if you are that worried go see a doctor.
