I'm Native American (Navajo). One side of my family prefers the traditional way of life and the other half prefers christianity. To me, any way a man or woman seek the creator is a good way. There is only one God.

Are there children in the family?
Perhaps for holidays, etc you should suggest doing Christian and Navajo things to celebrate. I know nothing of Navajo tradition, but I think that there ahouudl be some way to celebrate and let the children expereince the best of of what they have available to them. If they are exposed to both--it will be easier for them to accept others for their differences later in life, knowing that everyone is different and that the world is an amazing and diverse place.

Unfortunately, you probably can't. Religion is perhaps the main thing on which people make up their minds without considering -- or even being willing to consider -- evidence. Ideally, this would not matter; it would simply be a subject on which people agreed to disagree, and all would let it lie. I hope that Christianity does not impede the traditional ceremonies, as it would be a shame to lose that part of the culture.

Ethical conduct (Sanskrit: sila, Pali: sila)

In all of the elements of the Noble Eightfold Path, the word "right" is a translation of the word samyañc (Sanskrit) or samma (Pali), which denotes completion, togetherness, and coherence, and which can also carry the sense of "perfect" or "ideal".

Don't talk religion when you get together. If the Christians took a little time to understand Native American traditions they would find more in common than they know. Keep the faith.

I feel for your plight to bring your family together but Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me." Your Christian family is on the right track. But God tells us in the bible that Christianity, as great a thing that it is will always divide families. Some will believe and some will not.

I feel you... but rememebr there is a fine line between different faiths, in christianity you don`t always consider ONE GOD, there is such a thing as trinity..., so I would suggest you bring them together on family basis first, and once they migle, they will understand each other`s religion a little better, and will work things out themselves.

There is no way to bring them together. You can talk to each side and explain your concerns. The best you can hope for is that they at least tolerate each other and agree to disagree. Or at least not make any negative comments while you are present.

I agree 100% with you and have the same beliefs, however, I find when people disagree with me, and use the "my religion is the only right one" speech, I just smile and walk away.

I wouldn't put expectations on bringing them togther, each person's path to God is their own and should be respected.
