A fever is usually an indication of infection. If you or your husband are concerned about infection, contact your doctor and explain your concerns to him. It's very unusual to not get a prescription for an antibiotic following surgery, unless he was given a "mega-dose" prior to surgery. At any rate, it's important to remember that the doctor is YOUR employee--he works for you. If you're not satisfied with the quality of care you're getting, you have every right to a second opinion and/or another doctor.

The increase in temp may be due to the body's response to a foreign body in it. Or it could be phlebitis (inflammation of a blood vessel), or endocarditis (an infection in the heart). Antibiotics are not normal therapy for stent placement. How is his cath site looking? Is it red and inflamed?
It sounds like your husband may need some blood cultures drawn to see if there is an infection going on in there. One other thing, was it the cardiologist that you spoke to or his secretary or medical assistant? A lot of times they like think they run the office and have a specific set of answers they give out to patients with questions. I would make an appointment and go get it checked. A week is too long for a fever, unless he caught something like a flu bug.
Unless he increased your husbands BP meds, the stent probably won't change the blood pressure. Most of the medications he was put on were blood thinners and cholesterol medications like Plavix and Lipitor.

that's good! the procedure was perfect. stable blood pressure. low grade fever. no antibiotic needed coz some doctors/surgeon prescribed anti inflammatory drugs. the insertion of stent is done with aseptic technique .
there are many causes why people had a high grade fever... like due to pain, infection, weather, stress etc. But if the patient undergone some minor/major surgical procedure some experienced high grade fever maybe because there is an infection with the procedure done. if there is a problem with the plood pressure like high bp..well, there is problem with the stent. some will undergone repeat surgery. so, if thse two symptoms are present...better rush to ER for further evaluation.
with you hubby's case now... HE IS OK .

Wow, scary stuff.
You are obviously worried and I would be too.
Trust me, the LAST please you want to go to is the ER.
I can't even understand why a Dr. would even say that to a patient.
The best medicine is preventive medicine
Your Dr. should do blood tests to see if his white blood count is up which would indicate infection.
His slight fever may be caused by inflammation from having foreign objects having just been inserted into his body.
Whatever you do , please, do not ever think "they might think I am over-reacting". Who cares what they think!!!!!!?
Call first thing tomorrow morning and ask your Dr.'s office to recommend another cardiologist for a second opinion because you cannot shake your concerns.
They will probably tell you to come in , LOL.
If they give you any problem, switch Dr.'s immediately.
Good luck. You only live once!

i have 3 stents also, but have never run a fever with any of them. Mine were done two different times, 2 the first time and 1 the other. I think his bottom number is relatively high, did you mention this to the Doctor? I would keep in close contact with his cardiologist to be safe
good luck and god bless

My mother has had this done 9 times and has never had the symptoms you described. I would take yor husband down to the ER just to be on the safe side-better safe than sorry. the bottom number being in the 90s isn't too much a cause for concern.
