I live in brisbane and was thinking about moving to perth. I have heard heaps about the amount of available jobs, and places to rent over there, and how laid back it was. But I am afraid to leave what I know. Would anyone recommend making this new start?

Yeah, not only Perth but WA as a whole is great. We made the move in 93 and have never regretted it or looked back. Sure, at first it was a bit lonely what with knowing nobody but that changed quick enough and also getting lost a few times. Street directory fixed that. There is work to be had, especially if U have a trade. It would be the last place in Aus where U can make it and have an honest go. Sure it's a bit isolated but there lies the secret. But Perth is not the end of the road. The mining & oil industries are booming as are a lot of country communities. The South-west, magic.

If you're going to spend the rest of your life wishing you'd done it, then the answer is clear. Now is a good time because their economy is going nuts, although at the rate it's growing I don't know how laid back it'll be in 10 years' time. If you don't like it there you can always move back (in which case you'll appreciate home more), or try somewhere else.
