the best way to do it is to plan for your date, by this i mean do it a little at a time as you can. Make sure when you plan your wedding you know you will be able to have everything you want by then, the last things you will want to buy will be the tux and dress. Shop for things when they are on sale when you can it will save you a lot of money. Just be sure to budget it into your expenses and each week put so much back for wedding expenses, then with that pay for what you can.

Make a budget, one that you can afford without having to get a loan, put it on credit cards or go into debt. There are so many corners that can be cut and the wedding can still be as pretty and fancy as the ones that break the bank and go into debt doing.
Places like David's Bridal has a lot of dresses for $99, or find a white prom dress and add "pretties" if it needs to be "dressed" up.
If friends or co-workers want to give you a gift, see if they will make the reception their gift to you ( then you don't have to pay for it)or just have cake, punch, mints and nuts--if you have a "bulk" store in your area you can get big boxes of mints and nuts for cheap.
Buy silk flowers and make your own bouquets and the guy's flowers.
Find a friend or call a local community college and see if the photography class does weddings (not sure if they do but you might be able to cut costs) (a friend of mine had a good friend of hers take the pics they turned out awesome and she only paid $500 for the pics) or do what I did and I just had family use their camera's and they all took pics and then gave me the copies--they were not professional but they were more relaxed and more fun then being "posed".
I hope these help, if ya need any more tips feel free to drop me a line.

There are a number of options: Both sets of parents can contribute to the wedding and you and your fiance can pay the difference. You can take out a personal loan from the bank to pay for everything. Credit cards are an excellent way to pay for things...I say this because just in case one of your vendors goes back on the contract, you can take it up with the credit company and get your money back. Or you can save it up, the old fashioned way, and pay for everything once you've saved enough.

I recommed to all my couples that they decide each one thing to give up each week. So for instance if you like to go out to dinner once a week, stay home and save $50 each week. Let's say you like to go to the movies, stay home and save $30. At the end of each month this is $200-$300, at the end of the year it is $2400 - $3600. That is a start, some other savings or expense cutting can be done. Sacrifice is the first thing and then cutting back on the wedding costs is the second thing. Good Luck!

Save save save!
Set a budget.
Put all income tax refunds into a seperate account to pay specifically for the wedding.
Have part of your paycheck go into that account ($100 per check or whatever).
Any money given for xmas or bday go into that account.
Go through all your "crap" and sell anything you do not use. If you have to hem and haw about if you want it or not SELL it. Either on ebay or craigslist or the local paper.
If you are still finding yourself needing money take out a SMALL (less than $5k) loan. If you only need a small amount of money ($500 or whatever) ask family to borrow from.

For our Sept 2007 wedding, we are paying cash for everything including the honeymoon. We have sat down and know exactly what we have to put away each month to make it work.
Plus remember, you should get some of the money you spend back via money people give you as wedding gifts.

Just judge how much you and your man can save in a particular amount of time, and budget accordingly. Don't get into debt over just a wedding, that isn't worth it. Just have the size and kind of wedding the two of you can afford.

I agree with setting a budget. I also agree that you should not go into debt for the wedding. However, I'd have the money set aside to pay for it all ... pay for it on a credit card that giv eyou some sort of "points".... they pay it off immediately. Depending on your "pay grade" you may get enough points get a free airline ticket!!!!

In Cash !! Don't go into debt for your wedding - thats no way to start off a marriage. Your wedding should reflect what you can afford.
