Not at my church. Before they go up to the pulpit, we pray for God to lay upon their hearts where to open the Word up to. So they don't even know what they're going to read before they go up there, let alone what sermon they will preach.

No pre conceived...but a minister will pray and ask God what is the word to present to the people ...another words what is his word for the people of that hour...In teh bible Jesus told them there would be a time that when they are brought before counsels ...to take NO thought of what they would say..because he would give it in that hour...

As a practice..young ministers will study and build a sermon..but when they are seasoned they will look ..more to here form God. God bless

I can only answer this question from my own experience. I read the scripture passages for the given week or day and then meditate on what they are telling me. I then begin to write some things down and it just seems to flow out of me. I believe that the Holy Spirit inspires me on what to write so that people will understand how the word of scripture pertains to them today and how they can become closer to Almighty God.
If a preacher has a preconceived nothion of what he wants to say them it is His opinion and not necessarly that of God.
Too many preachers preach for the purpose of material gain and not necessarly to inspire people to come closer to God.

I am an ordained Rev.

When I prepare a message; I select a topic, then I choose assorted scripture that supports my point of view.

I also use a good concordance to help me find scriptures I will use.

Most do, most of the time. But, they also watch the news, keep up with what is going on in the community, and the church family. That way, they can apply the Bible's message to what's going on with their church family.

Some do and some do not. I think most of them will reflect on what is happening around them and seek ways to reveal God's plan or revelation concerning that. Ita all sums up to loving one another...That is God, for God is love.
