Your hair wont go from black to brown in one process. First you have to take it lighter and by that i mean dyeing it blonde.
Once this is done apply the shade of brown that you want and you will have the colour you desire. Think of it like your colouring a piece of paper. If you were using a brown pen, it would show up much better on white paper whereas it would be hard to see on the black paper. Make sure you get an intense conditioner though as colouring your hair really dries it out.

Just bleach your hair for like 5- 10 minutes and then try a light brown hair dye.

just dye it 1 shade lighter, and keep dying it a shade lighter.

I think you'd have to bleach it first. I don't recommend it. Once you start, you can't stop!
