Yes it is fair to blame them. The reason being is that parents are responsible for their children. If a parent notices that the child is over weight, eating to much, they should do something right away. If they don't they probably use the excuse that they are to busy then the children grow up obese, are made fun of by other people(kids), they become depressed which makes them want to eat more, have low self esteem, and end up having major health problems in the future. It is not at all safe for children to be overweight.

I would say it depends on the situation. A parent can't follow a child around all their young life and watch every bite that goes into their mouth. But on the other hand if the parents are obese the child is probably picking up the habits of the parents and than yes it would be their fault.
Than again, there are medical conditions that cause people to be fat so that would have to be determined by a doctor.
To answer your question it would not be FAIR to just blame the parents.

I think it is fair, it is a parent's responsibility to instill in their child the benefits of eating right and leading a healthy lifestyle. The best way a parent can do this is lead by example. Allowing a child to be babysat by a TV or video game while pounding back soft drinks and convenience food is not the child's decisions. Rather a life choice the parent has made acceptable throughout the child's life.

It depends on when the child started to become obese. I was thin up til I was able to hang out with my friends. At that point it was my fault. If a child's food is being prepared by the parents it's the parents.... There is no set rule. However, if a child is not active the parents don't promote activity then guess what?

Parents have a responsibility to monitor the diet of their children. There can be many other contributors to why a child is obese but the bottom line is that the parent should make sure that they are getting a healthy diet. Generally yes, it is the parents fault.

It dose not have a thing to due with over eating nor having a hormonal imbalance it is because these parents don take time out for there kids, all they wont to due is throw them in front of a computer or bye them a video game X-box,Nintendo and let them have there way and then they wounder WHY. If they would get off there *** go out side and play do something other than talk on the phone and play games we would not have this problem . Yes I know step on a lot of toe's OLD and YOUNG but you all know I am right, It is time to change this because little do we know this generation of parents starting from age 22-40 yrs of age , the majority of use will out live our kids believe that.

YES!!! The parents buy the food that the child eats, and mold their children's eating and excercizing habits. Parents can put locks on pantriss and refrigerators. Once the child is older though, certain types of locks may not be effective, the child can buy junk food in school (limiting money to the child can help prevent this). The only NO answer to this question is if the child has some sort of disease that makes them fat even though they are eating a normal amount of food. Otherwise, parents are DEFINITELY RESPONSIBLE!!

unless if it is a specific health condition that causes one to be obese, Yes, it is definately the parents fault. the parent controls (or at least is supposed to control) what the child eats and what the child does. if they fill them up with McDonalds and let them play video games all day of course the child is going to be over weight. it is the parents job to set the example and teach their children how to live a healthy lifestyle. if they are never taught, how will they know?

If the child is under 18, it is parents responsibility to see that he eats properly. My BF's son has become overweight in the past 6 months, the mother has given up on him, and lets him do what he wants. He is 12. He is with her 90% of the time. She gets him fast food every night because she is too lazy to cook, or even make a sandwich or salad.

Parents have the responsibility of not giving in when the child cries for a Happy Meal. Not making them something else when the child turns their nose up to a meal they dislike that was prepared. Parents have the responsiblity of teaching their kids about what fruits and vegetables and meats and dairy does for their bodies and encourages a healthy consumption of these foods. Parents either lack the knowledge themselves or simply don't care. Either way, yes parents can be to blame.
