Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Isaiah 49:15

To pray is to Love. Like mother Mary if we can say with a pure heart "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Luke 38. If we receive the Love of God heroically like Mary the Mother of Jesus then we can give Love heroically.

A human being can only find true purpose and peace in his creator that being God. For we were made to Love, know and serve God. To follow this path leads to a heart filled with joy and peace. To walk away from this path leads to heart govened by anarchy.

How can one have peace to live a lie? To pray is to commune with the Divine.

Prayer is something most of us do, but we may not necessarily think about the condition or quality of it. We all know something about what prayer is, how prayer is done, whom we pray to, and how often we should pray.

Our main concern is: Does God hear our prayers? One reason why we want God to hear our prayers is Luke 11:13, which says that God gives His Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.

Let's go over some general guidelines of prayer, then show how we can know that God is listening, and by a prayer cause God to do or not do something.

What is the purpose of prayer? One purpose is to believe there is a God, Hebrews 11:6.

To whom should we pray? Philippians 4:6, John 16:22-24. We should pray to the Father in Jesus Christ's name.

What should we pray about? Luke 11:1-13, Matthew 6:7-13. We need to pray about what's on our mind, something we are interested in. One specific example is in Luke 6:12-16. Jesus Christ could have said, "I know what is in man, I can pick these men, I know God is there, but I don't want to trouble Him with something I can handle myself." Instead, His attitude was: I am going to pray all night or as long as it takes, because of mine own self, I can do nothing, John 5:30. Prayer was an integral part of Jesus Christ's life, and it should be of ours also.

What Prayer Is

Prayer is worship. It is a one-on-one relationship with God.
Prayer is an opportunity to have contact with God. If we have sinned, we need to repent.
Prayer is from the heart.
Prayer is fellowship with God.
Prayer is directly seeking and submitting to God's will.

God wants to maintain communication with us. He loves us and cares about us. He is all-knowing, but He still needs the fellowship with us. We certainly need to maintain communication with Him. Heaven is the most wonderful, happy place that we will ever know. If we have a close relationship with God through prayer, He can help us with our life now here on earth, bringing us as close as possible to the joy that is in heaven.

The main reason is due to God's benevolence towards mankind.
God just couldn't created us and leave us unattended. God has to maintain every single breath of oxygen that we need, and others necessities which will keep us alive, do you think it is too much in return for our prayers. (A form of communication between the God and us) God's will is to ascertain us to unite as one , to love one another and to lead a life on the right path towards the eternity where our soul will be in the purest form as it was first given when it returns to the Almighty.

Well, I don't think God "wants" anything from us, because, as God, He's already got everything he needs. But the best prayer is one of gratitude. "Send me $50 to get my car fixed" does nothing for the soul, but "Thank you that I woke up and got another chance today" works wonders. It is God's will that we love one another. Begging does nothing to further that--but gratitude is a great start for it. There has never been a loving heart on this earth that wasn't grateful.

So we can come closer to true unending happiness. For peace and understanding. I don't think we can affect Gods will on earth, his spirit will return at the hour of his choosing. We can only PRAY ,wink wink, we are able to accept him.

The definition of a God and a being that needs to accept prayer is conflicting.

if you want my opinion prayer instills in a person humility because they see that there are forces beyond his control.

with this humility the person improves his actions and becomes a better person as a result.

that is the point of prayer. Self improvement.

Praying is like calling home! :)
Just like we call our friends on the phone, prayer is like calling home to God.
