great question and analogy. if christians blow up abortion clinics, they are not acting as christians but as terrorists. same for the muslims. but the latter have more latitude in terrorism than christians. it's called 'self defined jihad'

I think anyone who only wants to claim the 'well behaved' religionists as members of the club is running a truth laundrette!
Yes, Christians burned other Christians for quite a while for not being the right flavour of co-religionist, and Muslims and Hindus have both done the same.
We are all human beings. Arguing over the labels isn't really central when so many of us want to simply butcher each other instead!

I am reading between the lines at the real question you are asking.
Your real answer and what would be truly telling is...
to talk with 1 million random christians and 1 million random muslims and see what percentage of each is willing to walk the walk instead of trying to letting bulls-h-i-t do the talking for them.
By that I mean, it would be interesting to see what percentage of each group would be willing to go on television and speak loud and clearly against the extremist of their religions. What percentage would be willing not only to denounce the extremism in general but to accuse specific leaders of the extremist as murders and evil people.
I suspect that muslims are either cowards for not making very clear to the terrorist that they despise them or that they must be silently sympathizing with the terrorist.

Well, they can profess to be Christians, but they are definitely NOT following the laws of Christianity when they do that. They are quite a few Muslims that will tell you it is definitely not a tenet of Islam to blow up a building or kill our fellow man. There are fanatics every where. And this is not a phenomenon specific to religion. Sports fanatics, enviroment fanatics, etc. There will always be people who are a few sandwiches short of a picnic doing something that is insane to the rest of us. And they will hid behind religion while doing so.

If it were a very small part and if it were condemned by the rest of the faith you would have a point. But the two really are not compareable.
Hundreds of thousands turn out to Hamas rallies supporting the Muslims, it has the backing of prominent clerics, and I hear almost no counter movement on their part. All I hear is propaganda thrown at those of us who notice. No amount of propaganda is going to change things. Only a real change in the actions will.

Who says that abortion clinic bombing christians aren't real christians? I say they are. They're just doing what they think is right based on their messed up religious ideals.
Who gets to decide who is a proper christian or muslim? I'd say anyone who says they believe in Jesus Christ as their lord and savior is a christian. If they do stupid things in the name of their religion and they can justify it using scripture then they are just as much a christian as anyone else. They're also batshiat crazy, but they're still christians.

That would probably be true, but it depends on who you ask. I believe most christians and muslims are not terrorists, but those that are members of a religious organization usually have a small number of supporters.

Its an excuse to say they aren't really Christians. Both can be terrorists. They just do it for different reasons.
