There is not a specific disease you get but lack of sleep can leave you vulnerable to increased incidence of obesity, diabetes, illness in general, high blood pressure, and heart disease - and anxiety, depression and emotional problems.
Insomnia can be result of: Excessive caffeine or alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco, anxiety, depression, or another mood disorder, use of certain medications and drugs, stress, or job pressure, an unhealthy sleep routine, etc.
Sleep deprivation is a serious problem needing treatment as can be responsible for innumerable car crashes and accidents on the job and elswhere. Intimate relationships also suffer. (The person who said sleep apnea - that is not the disease as that describes a breathing interruption occurring during sleep). There is an excellent site to visit.

Sleep deprivation can lower your immunity, so actually you'll be catching the first thing that goes around....whether it be colds, flu, or whatever. I'm not familiar with a specific disease that is caused by sleep deprivation.

If you try to sleep but you can't, or you have a really hard time getting to sleep, that's called insomnia.

Could either be insomnia or sleep apnea. Go to a doctor and get a referral to a sleep disorder clinic who can test and diagnose you properly.
