Why don't many like people like Fruit Cake?

I've never tasted it, and I probably wont since I don't like Fruit. But I hear that alot of people don't eat it? Then why even bother in making it if you wont eat it??

Usually it is too heavy and dense to eat, the fruit can be dry with horrible nasty crunchy bits in it, and it's just too hard work to eat. When you can have chocolate cake, why on Earth would you want to eat fruit cake??

Like fried food, Fruit cake has got a bad rep. Word of mouth from people that had an unpleasant encounter with probably an "old" cake. Fruit cake is rather good when it is fresh as most thing when they are freshly made, give me a cookie right from the oven and it's heaven, give me one that's 2 weeks old and it's heaving, as throw in the trash. Find someone that made a fresh Fruit cake and have a taste, you'll see the difference. If all the stories where true then there was only one cake ever made and everyone regifted it and only one person actually took a bite and started the rumor. Enjoy Happy Holidays

I like Fruit Cake but only when my mom makes it. I don't like the kind you buy at the store.

I love fruit cake, it just has be a good one.
EXAMPLE: Fruit cake usually has berry rinds in it and a green jelly thing. It is so much better with freshly dried fruit and nut. You can get a reicipe at food.com.

i never ate it before either but in cartoons movies they throw it away but no one in my family eats it so that's why I've never tasted it before.
