i think that people do feel hurt and betrayed if the lie was intended to deceive or to gain at your expense

other things like telling kids about Santa (a fictitious character invented by coca cola BTW) or that you look younger than you are (when you are over 30- older if you are under 18!) etc then folks are not liable to get offended by

Only when they're telling you that you look fine or you look younger than you are or thinner than you are. Or that you're smarter than you are. Those lies are easy to handle. LOL
