It's partially because as Humans, we need somebody to hate.

It's also partially because religion has been used as control for the entirety of human history, and the best ways to control somebody are to lie to them and make them afraid. (I'm about to be sarcastic.) Isn't L Ron. Hubbard the best? Getting their fool-owers (did I just misspell that word?) to be afraid of people who wear black and listen to metal is an excellent way for the people at the top of Christianity to control their fool-owers.

A lot of them DO think that and I think it's just because they don't know.

I myself am a Christain (for real, I actually believe it all). At the moment I'm wearing all blackt and listening to Blind Guardian.
I don't see any contradiction there at all.

Of course, some metal bands and the people that are into them really are evil (Burzum and Mayhem) but they're certainly not the norm. I think Mayhem gave a bad name to all metal.

It may be unfair or inaccurate but it's because of "profiling" or "stereotyping". When was the last time you heard metal music in church or saw churchgoers dressed in black every week for the Sunday service? It is common though, to see people dressed that way and/or listening to metal while acting in an un-christian manner.

I've heard some well meaning ministers say that "Christian rock" was of the devil too. Some people are just plain ignorant. My daughter just kicked butt dancing to Christian hip hop today. Someone might've frowned upon that too. I'm sooo confident in my relationship with God that you could wear all black, spit green foam out of your mouth, and curse in front of me and I'd still treat you like the beautiful child of God that you are :) Who cares what you wear? It's your insides that I care about!

Ignorance. They (and that could mean of any creed, kind or faith) are forgetting a persons appearance means little to the life they may lead. I wouldn't let it bother you, if a fool calls you stupid why take his word? Who is he to call a fool? Perhaps next time you'll ask them directly. I would.

Because getting to know someone takes a life time, and who has that kind of time? Clothes, music and life style basics are the easiest and quickest way to judge someone for people who need to think they know everything

If you were to wear frilly pink tights and dresses and listen to flutes you would still be evil. Without Christ you are with Satan. There are only two families, God's or Satan's.
