In light of Romans 12:5, Christ's community is One Body, not one on earth one on heaven one in this church one in that church. Are Christ's disciples seperated by death even after His death resurrection and redemption? Are we commanded by Christ to Love and serve each other in community regardless of differences?
Merry Christmas.

We are to serve one another and love one another regardless of differences (particularly petty theological differences). Yes, believers are in the same body that transcends earthly distinctions. Jesus didn't tell Peter, "Be sure you doctrine is perfect." Instead, He said, "Feed My sheep." On the other hand, I do believe it is vitally important what we believe, especially concerning the main points of the faith.

Regarding the departed in Christ, we are one with them through Christ (but I don't think we are to seek to communicate with them), they are still alive, but in which way they are active, exactly, I'm not sure. An interesting verse is Hebrews 12:1: "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surround us..." Who are these witnesses? I don't think they are just angels. They're believers and in the church (Heb. 12:22-23).
