The New Testament -- Ephesians, specifically -- tells parents to love their children.
Obviously, loving one's children does not permit selling them into slavery.
This is one example of an Old Testament law which is superceded and replaced by one in the New Testament.
Such is not the case with the OT's condemnations on homosexuality, though -- because nothing in the NT replaces or supercedes them.
On the contary, the NT backs up and affirms the OT's condemnation of homosexual behavior. See Romans 1.

Of course. Any parent who loves their daughter could not sell her into slavery. No one should be a slave to anyone. That is despicable. How could one human being's life hold more importance than others? To each of us, life and freedom is precious and most cherished. Someone may be better educated or have more wealth, however, that does not make their life more important, nor should it make others sub-servent to them..

I don't know what the specific purpose or context of this law is, so I can't be certain, but my guess is that this situation would arise when the family needed money, so they'd sell their daughter to serve in someone's house. However, it does list some rights she had to protect her.

no they would not, and neither would Atheists for that matter.
just as a historical note, selling ones daughter into slavery at that time was a supplement to giving a dowry for a poor family and it was typical that the owners son would marry the girl.

Common sense perhaps.
Maybe that God gave humans free choice and we are in a way gods to our children and since we are to grow in his image we should follow by his example and give them free choice. Slavery is just the opposite, it is no choice.
Or even more, maybe the whole do unto others as you'd have done unto you would work. Surely it applies ten fold to your own family.

The excuse is that the OT laws have been overridden by a "new covenant". This does not keep Christians from citing the OT as justification for their favorite bigotries, however.
