James 3
13Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Jesus was about love, not complacency. When something is wrong, we take a stand. But no one has the right to be rude and arrogant. The root of the problem is whether people are Christians, or call themselves Christians. The name Christian is derived from Christ-follower. Only people who walk with God and have been saved by Jesus Christ are Christians. Though we are human and make mistakes, our attitude should be focused on love. So are these people you are talking about Christians, or do they just call themselves Christians?

It is a cultural thing and not religious. If rude it is because the cultural influence is stronger than religious precepts. Realistically, religion is secondary and brought out and dusted on occasion. The beliefs are not possessed great depth, as some of the religious arguments presented on YA have not been studied or comprehended in depth.
I have seen Christian Principles practiced in areas where a bible had neither been seen nor a single Christian principle taught/preached.
"Do unto others. . . ," was an asian precept before the Bible was written.
Confucius [551-479 BC] Analects. Of course, If we look, all cultures have had the maxim.
"A person who doesn't know but knows that he doesn't know is a student; teach him. A person who knows but who doesn't know that he knows is asleep; awaken him. But a person who knows and knows that he knows is wise; follow him."
Asian Proverb

Don't limit this question to 'red neck Christians.' About every other person on this site, especially under the Religion and Spirituality section. Atheist, Islamist, etc., are just as rude or worse. Don't hate like that. Thank you for at least adding the last line of your question. If you didn't, this answer would be a lot longer...=)

You are generalizing.Like when someone says all black people are the :n: word. The real believer in Jesus(christian)follow's His teaching's.But you have to defend the gospel.Paul disputed daily in the synagog's or temple's of the Jew's.What exactly is red neck mentality you are referring too? And to point out He didn't thought us He taught us.Jesus is LOVE but He is also a GOD of Judgement. We are not to judge except to judge the fruit of the spirit of fellow believer's.He also ask's how can you love me whom you've not seen and hate your brother who you have seen. That means your brother of every color,or creed.

I don't necessarily see a red neck mentality I see more people trying to be jack asses than anything else. That is not from an atheist or Christian mentality. Just my observations

People being rude answering in this topic are not limited to Christians. I've noticed more than a few atheists posting intentionally combative questions, and snarky dismissive answers. I would say the split seems about even. Each side believes that the other is stupid for believing what they believe, and they use this forum to let each other know it constantly. Most questions are not even looking for intelligent answers to a quandary. They are looking for confirmation of an opinion, or fishing for conflict. It is the exact opposite of the spirit of this board.

there'll continually be those who use the note "Christian" in a primary experience. it may nicely be an approach about existence or the way others should be dealt with and in many circumstances refers to most popular a "good" existence. Their conception has not some thing to do with underlying concepts of God's plan of salvation with the help of Jesus. they'd have heard the plan yet have rejected it as truth. it ought to actual sound good to some non-Christians because they could proceed to trust interior the concept their good works will outweigh their shortcomings interior the right. It satisfies their favor to believe basically in themselves extremely than coming to the files that faith is going previous self and saving faith is stumbled on basically in Jesus Christ.

Christians ' like unto Christ ' that is the way all non - Christians should view the individuals that they refer to as Christians!
Read the text in depth, the KJV Bible, and learn what type of man Jesus Christ was when walking upon this earth and his follower - disciples - when you have read and understand the text. Then you may have a better understanding of what type of individual really is a follower, and which ones are namesakes.

I am sad to say but there are some so called christians who think they are better than everyone else. And no Jesus will not be "happy" with them because they(we) are supposed to treat others how we want to be treated. I am sorry that you had a bad experience.
