I am a Christian, and I was in a sorority in college. There were a few other Christians in the same sorority as well. It's definitely something you have to be careful with, but it should be doable. Actually, many sororities started out based on Christian principles - the members were sisters in Christ, not just sorority sisters. Unfortunately, those foundations have largely disappeared over the years. I think the important thing is to know who you are and to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. I personally did not join a sorority until my sophomore year. That has some disadvantages in forming relationships, but I got to watch the sororities for a year so that I knew that my values would be respected, even if the other girls didn't agree with them. You need to be sure that you can influence others more than they will influence you, and don't place yourself in compromising situations. Seek advice from other Christians at your school, too. For me, joining a sorority was a good choice, but I know not every Christian would agree. Best wishes.

I beleive sororities are a way of protecting young women just leaving their home for the first time. They have a house mother that makes sure the girls get in at night and they have fun activities. There can be some stuff that goes on that shouldn't but I believe they were initially set up to help girls transition into adult life better, make friends and have roomates far from home that they can buddy with and it looks good on a resume. Please look into some of the specific sororities. Some are specifically designed for academics and others for "party colleges" and the social ladder. Be careful.

I think the question is "Is it ok for my daughter to be in a sorority?". Christianity is about our relationship with GOD through Jesus Christ Period. I have an 18 year old daughter who has chosen to go to a really Conservative collage. If she had chosen to go to Texas A&M I would have felt better if she was in a sorority because there would be a group of other girls that would be looking out for her. Hopefully in the right way LOL. Hope that helps.
May GOD richly bless you.

If the sorority that you wish to become part of conforms to you dads beliefs he should have no problems with you joining them, just find a way to show him that all is safe for his child. Dads always worry about their children no matter the age.
