I've looked everywhere for this info and I've seen so many mixed reviews and I need help please. I'm new to digital cameras so I would need something fairly easy to use. My main use for the camera will be to take pics of my 2 girls. I really like the color accent feature I've seen on some but it doesn't have to be a must. I'm just looking for one that will give me great shots of my girls so that I can look at these when I'm 50 and my girls are grown and remember how they were when they were small. Thanks for any help you can give.

Get a Kodak camera. It is digital and 100 dollars. also you can get it at walgreens.

The Canon Powershots are nice cameras, I'm sure there is at least one in the $400 range or less. Don't forget to budget for a bigger memory card.
Go to www.dpreview.com or www.stevesdigicams to research features and read reviews on digicams.
You want to pay attention to the shutter lag measurement, less is better for taking pics of things that move (like your children!)
4 - 6 or 7 megapixels should be plenty.
Ignore digital zoom, what you want is optical zoom.
There are lots of great mid-level digicams, you'd be safe with practically any camera from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Kodak or Fuji.
Good luck!
