I don't have a heating pad here in my apartment. Is there any way I fake one out of common household items? Please, if you don't know, don't respond. Thanks.

Maybe heat up a damp towel. Just make sure you don't light it on fire. Or put hot water in a heavy duty ziplock bag. I know that works for making a cold pack.

Makeshift Heating Pad

Most likely yes, depending on how wet got. ANd the mother most likely will come back, but how long has it been? And to use a heating pad as a incubator: 1. Make a makeshift nest out of any materials. Like clothing. 2. Put the eggs in the nest, not close enough to burn them. 3. Flip the eggs, every hour, to two hours. 4. Every once in a while, put water on your hand, and gently moisten them. It takes 28-30 days for hatching, and if you want to know how old they are: 1. Find a good flashlight. 2. Go somewhere dark, 3. Shine the light through each of the eggs. If they are dead, or infertile: 1. They will be clear, or just have an yolk, but this could mean they are early, and could be alive. 2. If they stink. If they are alive: 1. They will have a black circle, filling have of the egg. Possibly veins. 2. One black dot if they are a little young. Good luck!

One thing you can do is take a tube sock and fill it with plain white rice and tie it at the end. Fill it pretty full, so it moves but is as full as it can be and still tie it. Put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and it is a great neck heating pad or anyplace else. ou could make two if you need it fot a larger area. This gets a little moist also which helps. I've used this for years. Make sure it doesn't burn you, it lasts for a while once heated though. Of course if you are a sewer you could make a large one for the back. good luck.

Use a warm wet cloth or put a towel in the microwave for 30 seconds or a minute at a time until it's comfortably warm but not too hot. Just be careful about putting it on sensitive skin and don't use it if it's too hot.

You'll need a needle and thread or better yet a sewing machine.
Cut off a 12 inch section of the leg of an old pair of pants. Buy 2 lbs of grain like millet or rice. Sew one end of the pant leg shut, pour in the grain and sew the leg shut. You can microwave this pillow shaped fabric object for 2 minutes. You'll discover that this heating pad will stay warn for surprizingly long. You can adjust the heat by wrapping it in more or fewer towel layers. They last for years and the weight of the grain makes the pad conform to your shape. (I thought of stapleing the leg shut, in case you have neither a needle and thread or a sewing machine, but the staples would spark in the micro.)

If you have a pamper or any brand of diaper, wet it put in a plastic bag ( zip lock ) put it in the microwave and get it hot, and place it where it hurts. Wrap it in a dish towel, it will be very hot so be careful. The gave me this in the hospital when I had surgery, I was amazed how long it stayed warm and it worked great. I use this now instead of my heating pad. Hope your feeling better soon.

get a bag of dried beans, peas or rice and empty it into a cloth bag. Tie bag loosely closed and put the cloth bag of dried rice (or whatever) into the microwave for about a minute. Check it to see how warm it is. When it's a nice warm temp, place on body. (don't make it too hot and burn yourself though)

They used to put a brick in the oven and then wrap it in flannel. Try a large container with secure top and put hot water in it, seal it and try it. Dont put hot water into glass though, it may break. Some times ice works as well and ice bags are easier to make.
