Hair gel and directions for hair after shower?

I want my hair to remain curly/wavy that way after I take a shower. Which gel do I use and how do I apply it. Everyone does it now, and I can't fingure out how.

The best thing I found wat Paul Mitchell freeze and shine - it is a spray and not a gel. You crunch you hair and spray
