...these azzholes I see driving around with unrestrained children? Today I saw these people in a late model SUV driving with a 3-4 year old child standing up, walking around the vehicle. Not in an approved child safety seat, not even in a seatbelt. The kid was doing this for about 15 miles. I thought about dialing 911 to report their dumb azzes, but I wonder if 911 would think that was a trivial call and get mad at me?

I was in my car, and didn't have access to a phone book to find out the local dispatcher's number. I didn't call because I thought that it didn't constitute enough of an "emergency" to tie up the 911 system... I guess I'm asking what would YOU have done...

I am a cross country truck driver , and I do not hesitate to call 911 when I see things like that. When 911 picks up just say immediately this is not an emergency , and they will gladly transfer you to the non-emergency line.Never once Has a 911 dispatcher gotten upset , or mad that I called them for that. They know you are driving , and don't have access to a phone book. They are very thankful and helpful towards calls like this.I wouldn't recommend calling 911 whenever , but this is a child's life that was being put in unnecessary danger.

I would have called or pulled over at a call box because that goes to the CHP. You should have called because that is child endangerment and reckless driving child protective services can actually start a case on the people and have the child taken away and make the parents go to classes. You can also call 411 and and for the local number to the police and they would have connected you. police take that call serous most cops really don't like people that endanger children and it is such a big deal now to have the kids in proper seats have you seen all the TV adds it is a very serous issue. Next time call

I'd dial the local law enforcement, not 911. 911 is for emergencies, this wasn't one.

Actually that is not a trivial call. A childs life is in danger over idiotic parents. CALL!!!!
People like that do not desrve kids. Yes the police will take it serious. I have called on people like that and law enforcement does not play games with childrens lives.

That is not what 911 is for use your cell phone and call the police dispatcher and turn them in. You will get much better results by doing that.

"911" is for emergencies only, not a catch-all number for calling the police about anything possibly illegal. What you describe is not an emergency.

I would. Those people are putting their children at a huge risk. If you feel bad, you can also call the non-emergency number.

I would have not worried about it. It is none of your business, and certainly not an emergency. Why don't you worry more about your own life and less about trying to impose your view of the world on others!!!
