On what basis do you claim that Christians would call someone fitting that description a bum, a loser, or a hippy? Also, Jesus certainly wore sandals, but no Jewish males during the time that Jesus lived would have worn their hair long the way Jesus is commonly depicted. So it is simply not the case that Jesus would have had long hair despite what people usually assume based I think on the depiction of Him by Jeffrey Hunter in the movie King of Kings. However, I still challenge the basis of your claim. Maybe some Christians would say that, perhaps particularly politically conservative ones might, but I think it is an unfair generalization on your part.

First, I SERIOUSLY doubt ALL Christians "call him a bum or a loser or a hippy". In fact, I was exactly like that back in college.

Second, I think that MANY Christians don't have a mental image of Jesus and his apparel statement. I worship spiritually...not physically.

I've met a lot of people who look like that, and I've never once thought they were bums or losers.

Not just Christians but everyone judges people on how they look. They look to see if they have designer jeans,shirts, shoes etc... if they do not then most people think they are not good enough to associate with. I don't know how old you are but if you were in school and saw someone that was not up to most people's standards would you talk to them, eat lunch with them, ask them to your home etc.. most people would not. People should not judge people on how they look it is what is on the inside that counts. Jesus looked like the people in his time did they had long hair, beards and wore sandals

They do not worship a guy that looks that way.
The typical representation of Jesus is of a pale, weakly, long-haired confused man.
It was shameful for a Jew to have long hair.
Jesus was supposedly perfect ....why would he look sickly.
The Roman Catholic artists have done alot to mis-construe the truth.
We should not base reality upon an artist's conception.

The Bible never describes what Jesus looks like other than the fact he looked no different than anyone else at that time.

Plus your argument by analogy is very poor:
1. Jesus had long hair and wore sandles
2. Bums have long hair and wear sandles
3. Christians worship Jesus
Therefore Christians should worship bums.

No where in Christianity is it taught we should worship people who look like Jesus.

Why do you think Christians are exclusive in this demeaning act? Everyone at some time or another will 'poke fun' at or stereotype another human being...not just Christians. Besides, whoever said Christians are never at fault? Everone is a sinner...no matter what.

have you gotten EVERY CHRISTIAN'S opinion on that? I don't remember talking to you. At my church there are men with long hair and tattoos(and women with tattoos also). NO ONE puts them down for long hair,beards or sandals. Where did you get that junk?
