YES! It happens all the time. Any significant hormonal shifts can alter how your hair grows. In many people, these shifts can cause hair to grow in places you don't want, while it falls out in the places you DO want.

Check out what's causing the stress and take steps to manage it... if it's presenting as physiological symptoms, then it's really out of control. Treating those symptoms rather than the underlying cause is a really good way to have it spiral out of control.

They sure can. Stress brings out many varied problems in the body. It's got to be kept under control. Good luck!

definitely, you need to massage your scalp & literally tell your scalp to relax (sorry sounds weird but works)
also switch to milder shampoos that don't contain sodium laureth sulphate, helath shops sell them or try this site (free P&P in UK)

Also, this is a very good remdy for hair loss(alopecia):
take a strong multi-vitamin & mineral tablet everyday plus 2 grams of vitamin C & zinc tabletsThere'll be zinc in the multi-vitamin but take the extra dose as instructed on the container until the hair begins to grow normally.

PS> Victoria Health do some good mutil-vitamins.
