He has bladder stones. He just had surgery but his urine is full of crystals....We changed his diet but the water intake is a problem. He hardly ever drinks. Any ideas?

i would make sure to use an aluminum bowl for his water (some-times plastic bowls harbor bacteria and animals won't drink from a contaminated source of water)....also i would wash the water bowl daily (or every other day) and always make sure there is fresh water in it.....you could experiment with putting a couple ice cubes in his water bowl...some-times that intrigues animals....you could also run the house every time you take him outside, alot of dogs like to "bite" at the water stream........i have a feeling that once he has a good clean water supply his intake of water will improve....good luck

You might speak with the vet, because I don't know if the mineral content, etc., would be good for your dog, but they do make "flavored" waters for dogs that are meat flavored and things like that to encourage dogs to drink more water. But I'd definitely speak with the vet first, although my first impression that the water would be better than your dog not getting enough water at all.
