These are ingrown hairs and yes, they are more common among people with curly hair. One of the best treatments is exfoliation - either with a loofah sponge or a cream containing salicylic acid. One of the best preventions is to keep the skin soft with moisturizers and avoid tight clothing in the areas where this occurs.

If there are just a few spots and they aren't infected, try pulling the hairs up with a clean sewing needle. When the end of the hair is freed, the spots generally clear up on their own.

You are describing what sounds like infected hair folicles. Buy some witch hazel and clean your face morning and night with it. This should help. Also, wash, wash wash your hands with soap and water throughout the day...don't touch your face without washing your hands really well. Most people don't clean their hands often or well enough. You touch many things covered in bacteria every day and these hair folicles are probably one of the things you tend to touch throughout the day. So, keep this in mind and don't touch!!! Change your pillowcase often to keep from spreading the bacteria. I hope this helps. If not try a little alcohol or antibacterial ointment once a day too, at night. Good luck.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

Those are ingrown hairs. Try using a new razor or changing the blade in you razor more often.
