Have him bend over your knee/lap and use a little k-y jelly. have him bear down like he is having a poop whil you insert the suppository, it will ease the pressure of his anus and relieve the discomfort of the insertion.

The doctor should have demonstrated this in his office. There is no one best position...its what ever works for you and your son. Lying on his side or flat on his stomach are popular ways of how I administer them. One way of restraining him is to put his arms at his side, take a pillow case and slide it over his arms behind him, then take a bed sheet or large towel and wrap his upper body. You can tell him that you are playing Mummy. Unforntunately, this will only work once. Once this is done, you lay him down on the bed and you'll need someone to hold his legs. Then spread his "cheeks" and with a little bit of lube or even lotion will work, insert the suppository. After its in, take one or both of your hands and squeeze his "cheeks" together for about 30 seconds. This will give enough time for the suppository to absorb some of the moisture and start to break down. His natural tendency will be to go to the bathroom and have a bowel movement. You can try to reason with him and tell him that it doesn't hurt like a shot and the medicine will make him feel better....but I'm sure you've tried that approach already. Hope this helps. Let me know if this restraining technique doesn't work for you and your son. I have others, depending on the size of your son. Feel free to email me with any other questions.

Use a lubricant like Muko or vaseline so it will slide in easier. Lay him on his left side bending his right knee towards his belly. This is the recommended position and it should not be painful for him. Reassure your son, he's a little scared.

Lexapro and Prozac are anti-depressants. Abilify is for ( i think of) bi-polar yet is each so often used to handle schizophrenia. i think of Adderal is for ADH; uncertain concerning to the med beginning with ok yet i think of you propose Klonodine(?) that's prescribed to handle warning signs of psychological ailment. i'm no longer a Dr, yet i in my view doubt that any one no longer to show a baby could take all of those meds on the comparable time,. you relatively need to seek for suggestion from his Dr and locate out. you relatively might desire to straighten out with a qualified scientific guy or woman what he's on--for what challenge--and how plenty. Guessing, nerve-racking, and asking on right here will merely upload on your concerns. stable success to you and your son.i wish he's getting commonly used counseling to boot.

Honestly, with a 4 year old you may have to try bribery. Once you start it should basically "position" itself. If all else fails call the doc and see if there is something else he can take. If it's for vomitting, they have patches now.

I sugessted, or srecommended the nurse had to say. All it takes is a little of vasoline, and you can use you finger to make it a little more open. Can't see a problem with this.

i do this a lot, i am a pediatric nurse.
turn him on his left side. have his knee to his chest. use some lubricant and a glove. use your little finger to push it in. he will resist, so don't force it too hard. he will relax. its important to use your small finger so you don't tear anything. once it is in, tell him to squeeze for a few min, and it should stay in. encourage him to hold it in. you can use a reward system. usually i am not a fan of rewrads, but for medicine like this, i am.

You could try when he is tired, or whilst sitting in warm water to relax muscles if it's hurting him!
