I love my cat almost like a child. He is pretty good for the most part in my opinion and my boyfriend loves him too.But my boyfriend is getting mad because he has:scratched our leather couch, left scratches on our Amish made coffee table, chewed the edges off our lamps(which are lead but he wasn't hurt?) ran into my curio cabinet and my boyfriend is afraid he will break it eventually,a few other things and I guess the last straw was when he knocked over our Christmas tree and broke a few of our ornaments we got from vacation. What should I do,I don't want to get rid of my cat but I'm tired of my boyfriend taking it out on me when my cat does this stuff.Should I try to just find him a good home?

if your cat is under 2, then he is acting like this because he is still acting kittenish, and will eventually start to calm down. Also, if he isn't neutered, then this could be contributing to the behavior. get lots of scratching posts and put them near the things he is already scratching. if you sprinkle a little catnip on the scratching posts- he'll opt for those instead. He sounds like a wonderful playful cat- get one of those lazer toys and let him run up and down a hall way for a good 20 minutes a day- that'll wear him out so maybe he won't be going bonkers! clip and file his nails regularly. It's going to be hard to keep him away from the tree though- i think all cats climb the christmas tree- that's inevitable. you could also get a nice cover for your couch. We have nice thick comfy blankets on our couches and they have been kept safe from scratches, and look nice too.

do away with the boyfriend. He sounds like a jerk. Why did no longer you employ delivery administration? Now you would be a single mom to look after all on my own on an analogous time as he's "offshore"? Is he a minimum of sending money to you? sell off him. How did you undertake a kitten that replaced into only 7 weeks previous? part of its wildness is in all probability because of the certainty it replaced into taken from its mom and siblings too youthful. it may desire to have stayed with them till a minimum of 8 weeks on an analogous time as 10 to 12 could have been much extra powerful. And a "Siamese"? no longer likely except some terrible outdoors breeder offered it to you. Pedigreed cat breeders never enable kittens pass youthful than TWELVE weeks. As for the settee clawing TRIM THE NAILS as quickly as each and every week. Do you EVER trim them? And does this kitten have surfaces it may scratch? With the recent toddler coming you are able to desire to properly known that babies/babies and kittens are a terrible blend. babies are no longer clever adequate to properly known whilst they're hurting an animal and could easily injure or perhaps kill a kitten. So never leave the youngster unsupervised with this kitten. in case you come across that's no longer understanding notice which you haven't any longer have been given the main suitable to rehome this kitten. by utilising "accompanied" i'm assuming you advise a shield? Your settlement certainly states that the kitten will come back to them in case you do no longer prefer it anymore/won't be able to maintain it anymore.

There are a lot of things you could do to stop this behavior if you really tried hard enough.. you said this cat was like your child, why would you get rid of your child.. i guess ultimately you have to make a choice between your bf and your cat but first i would try to go to the vet or some pet store and ask for their opinion and see if they have anything that would stop your cat from doing these things

Depends on how much you love your cat and your boyfriend. Is he going to always have you get rid of the things in life that are precious to you for his convenience? You need to have a heart to heart and figure out where he stands on other issues as well. Maybe you should just spend some time training your cat. Don't even consider declawing though. Good luck!

Try putting some cat scatching posts and those 2 story homes for him to play with. Spray water at him when he goes near those items/places you don't want him near. Maybe get him a companion so he's not as bored.

Also if it comes down to it; you may have to decide to either place him in another home or if you insist on keeping him get rid of your boyfriend. While I can understand your bf's frustration he has no right to take it out on you.

I assume your cat is pretty young and the behavior will get better as he gets older. If your boyfriend had the characteristics of patience and a sense of humor, and trying to solve the problem without getting rid of the cat, he wouldn't be trying to get you to get rid of an animal you love! When you get rid of the cat, he will then try to control you and try to get you to change to please him, which he is already doing through your cat. When you find a boyfriend who is patient, loves your cat too, and also has a sense of humor, then your question will be answered, and you and your cat will be happier with a boyfriend who has your important needs in mind. It is the sign of a mature and stable man who understands that when you are happy he is happy. Your boyfriend is setting out to make your life miserable, by having you conform to his needless controlling behavior. Whenever a problem comes up in your relationship, cat or not, he will again take it out on you. Sounds like you get along better with your cat then him.

Invest into buying for the cats scratching, playing and chewing needs. Then invest time into correcting the cats unwanted behaviours. Find out what your cat doesn't like (water, loud noises, bitter sprays, moth balls) and use that against it when it does something you don't want it to. Also, cats like dogs react to praise. Don't forget that praising the cat for wanted behavious is EQUALLY important. Lastly, do not get rid of your cat because of someone else, only to regret it later. It is your decision and yours only. I say if you love her like a child you should keep her!

You love your cat don't you? I have two dogs and wouldn't dream (unless it's a nightmare) of getting rid of them even though they do plenty of things wrong, we do to. I'm sure you can take some complaints and scratched furniture if you really love your cat, it's not like your boyfriend's allergic, or threataning to leave. You're just annoying him while on the other hand your losing your cat. You referred to your cat like a child so you obviously love the cat. Just try and have your boyfriend understand that.

I'd try to find your boyfriend a good home, but I doubt of anyone would want anyone that is as controlling as he appears to be. What is your boyfriend going to do if you do something that displeases him? He is taking out on you something a small furry animal did. He has problems and getting rid of the cat is not going to solve them.
