aloe vera gel will speed up the healing process or vitamin e they will ease the pain and will help prevent you from peeling. You really dont want to peel if you are going to be wearing a stapless dress. I also read that yogurt spread on the area and left for 20 minutes will also take away the redness.

I'm sorry to ear you've been burned.

Just to know what you could be in for.....

Initially, your skin turns red about 2-6 hours after exposure and feels irritated. The peak effects are noted at 12-24 hours.
More severe cases, such as those experienced by rafters (Cuban and other island peoples fleeing their countries on homemade rafts) are complicated by severe skin burning and blistering, massive fluid loss (dehydration), electrolyte imbalance, and infection.
Other common symptoms include:

Chills

Fever

Nausea or vomiting or both

Flulike symptoms

Blistering - May range from a very fine blister that is only found when you begin to "peel" to very large water-filled blisters with red, tender, raw skin underneath

Skin loss - About 4-7 days after exposure

Home care starts before a sunburn. If you are prepared before going out in the sun, you probably won’t need these tips and techniques.

Immediate self-care is aimed at stopping the UV radiation.

Get out of the sun

Cover exposed skin

Get out of the tanning bed

Relief of the discomfort becomes important.

Medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen are useful, especially when started early.

For mild sunburn, cool compresses with equal parts of milk and water may suffice. You may also use cold compresses with Burow solution. You can buy this at a drugstore. Dissolve 1 packet in 1 pint of water. Soak gauze or a soft clean cloth in it. Gently wring out the cloth and apply to the sunburned area for 15-20 minutes. Change or refresh the cloth and solution every 2-3 hours.

Anyone raised in a beach community knows the secret of aloe-based lotions. There are many commercially available types. Ask the pharmacist at your local drugstore. Tearing apart your aloe plant in the yard and applying the cool jellylike substance inside the leaves is no longer necessary.

Cool (not ice cold) baths may help. Avoid bath salts, oils, and perfumes because these may produce sensitivity reactions. Avoid scrubbing the skin or shaving the skin. Use soft towels to gently dry yourself. Don’t rub. Use a light, fragrance-free skin moisturizer.

Avoid lotions that contain topical anesthetic medications because you can become sensitized and then allergic to that medicine.

Obviously, stay out of the sun while you are sunburned.

Now about your're back. My best advice to you is MOISTUREISE, MOISTUREISE, MOISTUREISE. The more you use, and the more often you use it the better result and the less likely you'll peel. A small area of white on red discoloration on the back is much more socially acceptable than blisters. And try not to use anything else. Please dont listen to anyone who tries to convince you there are ways to "speed up the process" of losing the redness, there simply isn't. DO NOT TRY to exfoliate the skin or it could lead to some SERIOUS complications.

Have a happy christmas and new year.

Best advice-take care of your skin and buy a new dress.
