You're right...they die...but where do they go? They stay right there on your hands until you use soap and warm water to rinse them off. In the hospital setting, we are allowed to use a hand sanitizer between patients 5 times before we go to the sink to clean our hands. Some of us nurses who have been around before the hand sanitizer came out, still use good old fashion soap and water. The germs are dead and stay on your hands until they are washed off with soap and water.

Alcohol based hand sanitizers kill germs and bacteria. Once dead they are still on the skin. The best and most effective way to kill and wash off germs and bacteria is running, warm water and soap.

They become ineffective. Since they are microscopic you don't see them when they are alive so, they just become another form, like squishing a bug. It can't bite you but, it is still there. Now, the use of these antibacterial handwashes are not always a good thing. There are good and bad bacteria, you are killing both with the use of these products. So, weigh the pro's and con's. If you have really nasty hands, use it. If they aren't, stay away from them. It is mainly alcohol anyway and is very drying. The best cleanser for daily handwashing is still good old warm soapy water. If it's not available, use the product.

i learned through microbiology class, that actually hand sanatizer will only work if your hands are clean.
sanatizer can not get through dirt. therefore if you have dirt, it will not work...it just spreads the germs around.
there is a big study out about sanatizer...b/c if one uses it all the time for a long time, it can break down the skin. and it might not respond to antibiotics.
so clean your hands, then use the sanatizer.

Hand sanitizer is a ripoff. It plays on peoples' unreasonable fears. Ordinary germs don't hurt you.

THEY ARE STILL THERE, THE SANITIZER DOES NOT CLEAN YOUR HANDS, JUST KILLS SOME OF THE GERMS. IT IS REALLY A WASTE OF MONEY AND THE ONLY PLACE IT SHOULD BE USED IS CAMPING OF DIAPER CHANGING ETC WHERE THERE IS NO HANDSINK. IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR HANDWASHING.

They are very harmful for your skin. You feel it even using them for one time. It dries your skin, and makes it cracked. Really it's a waste of money. Businessmen don't know what new things to invent to make more money. I never use it.
