I play video games, so plasma probably isn't best for me, but overall which is the best considering price and picture quality?

I have always loved the look of LCD televisions. I currently own a LCD rear-projection TV, and I play games on it all the time- the frame rate is fine. (I don't see any 'ghosting') The picture is amazing. My next TV is going to be LCD, no rear-projection - the picture is better on the normal LCD compared to rear-projection- plus LCD's are wall mountable!

I don't know much about DLP, execpt that there are more moving parts (which means more parts that will break down), and I have heard a few complaints about the rainbow effect. Compared to rear-projection TV's, the picture isn't quite as good **MYOPINION

Plasma TV's come in big sizes, but you are right - they are kind of a dangerous TV to get for gaming.(Even if the burn-in isn't permanent, do you want to have to play a video to get rid of it???) Whenever I compare LCD and plasma TV's, I always prefer the LCD.**again, MY OPINION

Since you rule out plasma i would say DLP is probably best for you. DLP tv has great picture and the price is not bad, but if you want a tv that's thin and light, go for LCD. LCD picture quality isn't as good as plasma or dlp but it's not that bad. Video games will look great all on all HDTV.

I play video games all the time on my plasma. You just have to be aware that you can get burn in if you leave a static image on the screen for a long time. Most games switch images and even if you do get some burn in its not permanent. Just play regular video and it goes away.
LCD images just seem to suck for big screens because of the refresh rates and most of the games I play are fast.

DLP is a great option as long as you don't mind the extra space. Its only a little space anyway and samsung makes them pretty slim these days.

Hdila from jvc is pretty cool to and they just came out with a wall mountable model that is around 10 inches deep.

Prices are definitly right for the rear projection types,

good luck

personally I prefer LCD although the price is prohibitative in larger models making plasma the more affordable choice for large screens. For fast action, plasma is definately better as LCD does not seem to capture sports action etc very well. But LCD wont burn out like the plasma screens and will last longer. I dont think DLP will last the distance- dont bother. But overall I think it is a matter of personal preference. Check out the difference yourself in a store and compare the cost of larger models. See where your budget will take you. In the end, if you want big you might have to go with plasma but if you are ok with average, choose LCD. If your planning on getting a tv next year say around summer time you might want to see how the new SED TVs look. From everything Ive read it looks like it will be a big competitior since it will be as thin as LCD and Plasmas yet produce CRT colors.

between liquid crystal demonstrate and DLP, i do no longer think of there is an significant difference. in spite of the undeniable fact that, Plasma is unquestionably no longer a thank you to pass, by using fact photographs will quickly "burn" into the demonstrate screen for a quick quantity of time (quarter-hour - 2 hours). it particularly is unquestionably stressful while you're enjoying a pastime like Madden or Doom, which has a stable photograph on the the backside of the demonstrate screen for the era of the pastime.
