If you buy it online, you might be out of luck. But if you bought it thru a real travel agency or directly from the airline you should be able to get a voucher called a "MCO" (miscellaneous charges order) for the difference in fare. These credit vouchers are usually good for one year and, like your tickets, are non-transferrable. The process is called an "even exchange." You would be exchanging the higher fare ticket for the lower fare ticket plus MCO. So, if paper tickets were issued for you (instead of e-tickets), this involves submitting your paper ticket back to the agency/airline and having the exchange done before the new fare expires or is no longer available.
I used to be a corporate travel counselor for many years. At one time, I did travel for a non-profit agency that watched every penny. We had a computer program that automatically checked for fare drops, and so I issued many MCO's. It's been a few years since I was a travel agent, but that rule should still be the same.

Depends on which airline you booked it with or whether you booked it with them directly or not. I have worked for a big airline one of the biggest online travel agency and i know for a fact that several airlines offer the difference either by credit back to your card or as a form of voucher you can use with the same airline aytime within a year. you have to check with the airline if they have the same policy. most online travel agencies also have the same policy for hotel rates. you just have to call them and tell them that their competitor is offering a lower rate and they will match it for you or refund you the difference, whatever is applicable.
---and by the way, the change in the fare is not a way to get off with some of your money(though you can look at it that way). it has to do with the inventory of seats and the date of travel.

Nah you probably cant get a credit... Happened to me.... I booked a flight to visit my bf and then just a few days before I was due to leave couldn't find the email confirmation and paniced thinking I hadn't ever booked the flight! My bf when back to the website and found the same flight for 20€ less then what I paid and was ready to click buy when I found the confirmation!! Typical! I think they make it cheaper closer to the departure date cos they want to fill the plane. Either book super early or last minute to get the best deals!

it particularly is a style of issues that take slightly legwork..... no internet site would provide you the superb cost. often times choosing up the telephone can keep hundreds. extensive style one is sign in for some favourite flyer enjoying cards as whether you have no longer any miles you may get a deal. Orbitz and all of that are wonderful yet as yet another mentioned....... on the instant happening to an airways internet site often is far greater value-effective. Timing is all. Fly on Tuesday and not Monday can keep plenty. Wait until a flight is almost finished and the bleak seat ought to value a million/2..... no biggie because it particularly is greater suited to be uncomfortable for some hours and be waiting to spend what you stored later. you could desire to declare the place you try to fly to.

No, if the ticket was a non-refundable then you are out of luck. If you bought the fully refundable ticket then you can always cancel the flight and rebook.
