They believe in salvation by confession, baptism is not mandatory for Heaven but it enhances one's spiritual walk; they are ok with both makeup & jewelry, & they believe in the gifts of the Spirit.
They have a strong legalistic bend, so be warned.

They believe in:
The Trinity - Father, son Jesus, and Holy Spirit.
Salvation through grace by faith in the saving work of Jesus at Calvary.
Baptism by immersion in water.
A separate baptism in the Holy Spirit as second work of grace.
The gift of speaking in tongues as the initial evidence of a believer having received the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
The makeup, jewelry, and women must not cut their hair issue is largely a thing of the past in the Assembly of God, but its roots are Pentecostal, along with all that used to entail.
Essentially, if you are Charismatic Independent you will fit in with an Assembly of God church just fine.
Baptists who received the Baptism in the Spirit gravitated to the Assembly of God, while Methodists who received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit seem to have gone more toward the Church of God (Cleveland, TN type). But the two denominations are extremely similar.
Oh - and they believe in the imminent coming of The Lord (that means any minute.)

Jesus is the only way to salvation. Moderation in dress and accessories. Baptism in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. Believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Beliefs
The Assemblies' doctrines are summarized in its Statement of Fundamental Truths.[7] Numerous other Christian groups share some or all of these tenets -- and some positions (like the Trinity) are considered more central to the faith than others (like divine healing). These positions are considered non-negotiable[8], although critics have questioned how well doctrinal integrity is maintained.:

The inspiration of Scripture.
The Trinity.
The Deity of Christ.
Original sin.
Fellowship with God can be restored by accepting Christ’s offer of forgiveness for sin.
Two ordinances: Baptism, by immersion after receiving Christ, and the Lord's Supper, as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit following conversion.
Speaking in tongues as the evidence of Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
Sanctification is a declaration and progressive lifelong process.
The Church's mission is to seek and save all who are lost in sin; the Church is the Body of Christ and consists of all people who accept Christ, regardless of Christian denomination.
Divinely called and Scripturally-ordained ministers serve the Church.
Divine healing of the sick is provided for in the atonement.
The Blessed Hope: a Rapture preceding the bodily return of Christ to Earth.
Premillennial eschatology.
Final Judgement and eternal damnation of the lost.
A future New Heaven and New Earth, in which Christ will dwell with his people forever

Dear green monkey,

I do not know if know this or not, but the church ended in 1988. We read in 2 Thessalonians 2 that the Holy Spirit has left ALL local congregations and churches and so it is IMPOSSIBLE to be saved in these assemblies. Satan is now ruling there-the man of sin. The LORD is saving outside of the churches though. 1988 marked the start of the Great Tribulation, the period that precedes the 2nd coming of Christ. This great tribulation period is a period of 23 years, contrary to what most "theologians" teach. The 2nd Jubilee began in 1994, so people are still being saved but it is completely out of the local churches. See Revelation 18--where we find that the local congregations have become Babylon. Babylon is a metaphor for the capitol of satan's kingdom. If you read the whole chapter you will note that the voice of the Bridegroom(Jesus Christ) is no longer heard there. Neither is the voice of the Bride (the true believers). In Matthew 24:15, 16 we read that when the abomination of desolation (satan) stands in the Holy Place (where the Gopsel was supposed to be), let them in Judaea (local churches) flee to the mountain (Christ; Psalms 121). We are very close to the end of the world and Judgment Day--see Matthew 13:24-30). "For many are called. but few are chosen."

We believe that one must confess their sins and accept JESUS into their lives as LORD. We believe that discipleship is VERY important. We believe in full water immersion in the NAME of The Father,Son,and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, with evidence of speaking in other tongues. As for the whole make up/jewelry thing....we are not opposed to these practices in moderation. A woman should always take pride in her appearance, epically if
She is calming to be a believer.
We are NOT legalistic either!

Look at http://www.paga.org/statemen.htm.

Essentially, the Assemblies of God are just like the Pentecostal Holiness Church, except that the AOG believe that sanctification is a gradual process, while PHC believe that it is a definite, one-time event. Neither the AOG nor the PHC should be confused with the Apostolic Pentecostals or Charismatics, although there are similarities.

My parents were AoG pastors (retired).
Salvation - Through believing in the life, death and resurection of Jesus Christ in faith you ask forgiveness of your sins and ask Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of your life.

Eph 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
9 not by works, so that no one can boast. (NIV)

Baptism - Is an outward confession of salvation, but not necessary to be saved. It is not done until a person is old enough to know what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Baptism is done by submersion in water which represents the death of our sinful nature and comming back up out of the water represents the resurrection of Christ and our new life in Him.

Make up/jewelry - The AoG has no specific rules about make up or jewelry, but personally I believe that we should do all things in moderation which would include our attire.

Holy Ghost - On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost ascended on the believers who were assembled in the upper room. He appeared as a flame above their heads and allowed them to speak in various languages so that everyone in the crowd outside heard them speaking in their native tongue. Acts Ch 2
We believe in Spiritual gifts as written in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11

1 Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.
2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols.
3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. (NIV)
