Just like the F-15, its all about the thrust to weight ratio..

Yes.... in fact, most modern supersonic jets are equipped with after burners that will do that. The F/A 22 Raptor can go vertical and accelerate with out going A/B.

probably if it wasnt carrying anything. its rate of climb is still considered incredible today.
