God is fair and He is a loving God as well. God didn't give smallpox or any other disease to innocent babies or children. God is Love and God heals those that are conflicted with disease and sickness. But with life comes death one goes with the other. If we didn't have sickness or death this world of ours would be so populated that we would be living in each other's backyards.I'm not sure on why you believe that God cursed these innocent little babies with smallpox but look at the people of Africa with the HIV virus that are dying by the handfuls. God didn't condone this. Now ...however in the Book of Revelations it does state about the lamb of God opening up the fourth seal and a pale horse that was persued by death, and given the power over the fourth of the earth to kill with sword and famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. I don't believe that God would personally make any innocent baby or child become inflicted by an awful disease.

ONCE AGAIN!!!! If people would read The Bible and know Him, they would understand that God is not The Giver of bad things whatsoever!

Be real, what kind of a God could bring glory to Himself by giving diseases, catastrophes, hunger, and poverty. The answer: NONE WHATSOEVER! That is a lie from the devil...don't believe it! God gets no glory from bad things at all. But, at this time we live in, He is not The Ruler of the things of the earth. The devil has that authority because of sin but will soon lose that authority. God is a God who is good, loving, merciful, kind, forgiving, patient, awesome, powerful and makes a way to counter the devils objective which is to kill, steal, and destroy. He does this as we draw near to Him and He rules and Reigns in our hearts by prayer, faithfulness to Him, and learning Who He Is, and What He's all about by the time we spend with Him...then you learn His ways and His Personality, what He stands for and what He likes and dislikes. Let every man and woman be a liar but His Word will always stand true. PEACE!!!

First he is fair and just remember we are all equal in his eyes and we are all beautiful in his eyes he give smallpox to other babies because sometimes we face life in a different ways so that is why some babies are white and others are black i like the way god is fair.

God didn't just choose which babies would get smallpox or not. God would never wish something like that to happen to anyone, especially a baby. Some babies are born with it by getting it in the womb, most likely from a parent, like many diseases. Others just catch it as they are exposed to it, mainly when being born.

God did not give viruses to anyone for any reason. He created man and the nature that surrounds us over 6000 years ago. Everything since than is the result of Adam chosing a woman over God.

The devil made smallpox/ the babies didn't pray hard enough/ the parents are being punished, so the baby is made to suffer along with the parents and the entire family/ God gave free will AND free roaming immune systems!/ We are being punished still from the original sin/ God wanted that baby in heaven for some reason (It's His will)/ God needed to get rid of the kid because he would turn into the anti-Christ/
God's not fair. Look at how many suffer and how many who don't deserve it get away scott free and live in luxury.

Since there is no God, which is the simple and accurate answer, it all makes sense, It's such a relief when you realise
It all comes down to genetics, viruses and Sh!t happens.
Once you come to know that truth, such questions are moot.

Why is it that God Haters (though they don't believe in God) want to blame Him for all the evil in the world? From a man who does believe I will tell you again. The reason we have these terrible illnesses in the world is because of sin and MAN not God is responsible for sin..... Jim

"god" has no opinion of anything, all are equal, all is fair - smallpox and babies and life in general does not pertain to god or what god "does" (by the way, god doesn't "do" anything here)

One understanding is that yes, God allows "bad" things to happen; God does not cause them to happen.
Most "bad" things which happen do so because God gives a radical freedom to God's people; we are free people, not puppets on a string. But God does not cause "bad" things to happen. God loves us and grieves with us in our pain when "bad things" happen.
Therefore, we might best respond by saying that God does not Will "bad" things to happen in life. Rather, "bad" things happen in the freedom that comes with the gift of life. When "bad" things happen to any of God's children, God is grieved and suffers with us, experienced most vividly in the hurt and suffering of Jesus the Christ for all humanity. Any "bad" thing which happens is never the last word. Rather, God is the deepest and last word, and that word is love and eternal life with God.
