We are supposed to be going to my parent's for boxing day and there is only enough room for 1 adult and 3 children, which means that my husband will have to stay at home, when really I want us to go through together as a family and they cannot be bothered to find anyone else to help. What can I do?

We've got to put the kids in their car seats due to a new regulation that has come in. I have also received a phone call off my sister saying that she'll take our eldest child off my hands so that we can still go through to my parents' house.

Either rent a car or (if the kids are smaller) but 3 children in the back seat and 2 adults in the front. Also you could switch cars with a friend for a couple of days

Are you all travelling with someone else? If it is not too far away, I would suggest taking a cab or something. There is no reason you shouldn't all be together for a family function. It is really up to you to find transportation for your family. It is not up to anyone else to "be bothered" to do that for you. It would be more empowering for you to find your own transportation, as a family, and then advise the person who offered the drive for a limited number of you, "no thanks." If someone is offering a drive they should offer it for the whole family.

I know this sounds way harsh but, I have been in this situation before and, trust me, you'll be better offer finding your own way and then you'll be able to leave when you like as well.

Well how far away do they live? Could you not all get the train there? Then you can all drink as much as you want as well! Or hire a bigger car just for the day? Best book it soon though! There must be a way round it!

if you don't have a car that can accommodate all of you then you need a bigger car it's not that hard to figure out. If you don't want to do that then your only other option is to rent a car when you all want to go out together. That can be very expensive. Your better off getting a van.

Let the kids "double up" and make room for your husband. What is boxing day??

Perhaps rent a larger car for the day.

Rent a second car and your husband can drive it.

What about public transportation? Is that an option where you live?
